Financial Planners in the Vanguard Directory

A financial planner looks at the whole picture — retirement savings, investments, insurance, college costs, debt, and what happens to it all later — and turns it into a plan you can follow. Visitors here are often facing a decision with long consequences: rolling over an old employer plan, receiving an inheritance, or selling a business.

The question that matters most is how the planner is paid. Fee-only planners are paid by you alone; fee-based and commission advisers also earn from the products they sell, a conflict worth naming out loud. Ask whether they act as a fiduciary at all times, and get the answer in writing. “Financial planner” is not a regulated title by itself, so look behind it: CFP certification can be checked with the CFP Board, and registered advisers and brokers appear, with any disciplinary history, on FINRA BrokerCheck and the SEC’s adviser search. For bookkeeping and tax returns, accountants are the better start.

Planners appear here only after submitting their own listing and having a person review it. If you offer financial planning, apply to get listed — free, and done in a few minutes.
