The Vanguard Directory is operated by Vanguard Digital Marketing, LLC ("VDM", "we", "us"). This policy explains what information we collect when you use this site, why we collect it, and what we do with it. It is written to describe how the site actually works — not to describe things we do not do.
No cookies. No tracking. This site sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and loads no advertising pixels, social widgets, or third-party scripts. Every stylesheet, font, and script is served from this domain. When you sign in to manage a listing, your session token is held in your browser's sessionStorage and is discarded the moment you close the tab.
We collect personal information in two places, and both are things you type in yourself.
The contact form, the "get matched with local businesses" form, and the newsletter signup send us your name, email address, phone number and whatever you write in the message, along with the page you sent it from. We keep those messages so we can answer them, and delete them once they are dealt with and no longer needed. Ask us and we will delete yours sooner.

Your password is never stored in readable form. We keep only a bcrypt hash of it, which cannot be reversed back into your password. Nobody at VDM can look up or tell you what your password is — we can only reset it.
Our web server keeps standard access logs (IP address, date and time, the page requested, and your browser's user-agent string) as part of normal hosting operation and for security. We also count recent requests per IP address in the application's memory to rate-limit signup and sign-in attempts; those counters are not written to disk and are lost whenever the application restarts.
If your application is approved, the business information you submitted —
company name, category, city, phone, website, and description — is published on a
public listing page at /listings/, where search engines can index it. That
is the entire point of a directory listing, so please only submit business contact
details you are comfortable publishing. Your email address and password are never
published.
We send transactional email only: a confirmation when we receive your application, and a message when it is approved or declined. We do not run marketing campaigns off this list, and we do not sell or rent it.
We do not sell your information, share it with advertisers, or hand it to data brokers. The only third party that processes it is our web hosting provider, which stores the site and its database on our behalf. We will disclose information if we are legally required to.
We keep your account and listing for as long as your listing is published or your application is on file. Messages sent through the contact, get-matched and newsletter forms are kept while we deal with them and removed once they are no longer needed. When we delete a message we keep a dated note that a deletion happened, so we can account for it — that note records who deleted it and when, and deliberately contains none of your details. Sign-in sessions expire automatically after seven days, and are cancelled immediately if you change your password or if a listing stops being active. If you ask us to remove your listing, we delete the listing page and the account record.
This site is a business directory intended for business owners. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
The site is served over HTTPS, passwords are stored hashed, and administrative pages require a sign-in. No system is perfectly secure, but we do not keep payment details or any sensitive personal data here.
If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and the "last updated" date above.
