Event Planners in the Vanguard Directory

Event planners design and manage occasions on someone else’s behalf: choosing venues, hiring and coordinating vendors, building the timeline, managing the budget and running the day so the host does not have to. Some specialize in weddings, others in corporate conferences, galas, fundraisers or milestone birthdays. Visitors come here because they have a date and a budget but not the time, the contacts or the nerves to pull it together alone.

No state licenses event planners, so experience and references carry the weight. Ask how many events of your type and size they ran in the last year and whether you can speak to two recent clients. Ask how they charge: a flat fee, an hourly rate, a percentage of the total budget, or some mix, and whether they take commissions or referral fees from vendors, which can tilt their recommendations. Ask what full planning, partial planning and day-of coordination each include, and who shows up on the day if the planner cannot. Get the scope and the fee in a written contract. Planners often bring in caterers and DJs from their own network, so ask whether you may use outside vendors.

Every planner on this page submitted their own listing, and a person reviewed it before it appeared. If you plan events for a living, apply to get listed — free, and it only takes a few minutes.
