Dietitians in the Vanguard Directory
Dietitians translate medical and nutrition science into what to actually eat. They help with weight management, diabetes and prediabetes, high cholesterol and blood pressure, kidney disease, digestive conditions, food allergies, eating disorders, and sports nutrition, through one-on-one counseling and meal planning. People arrive here after a diagnosis, a doctor’s referral, or years of trying diets that did not hold.
The title registered dietitian, or RD or RDN, requires a degree, a supervised internship, and a national exam, and most states license or certify dietitians as well; the word nutritionist by itself is unregulated in many states, so ask which credential the person holds. Ask about experience with your condition and what a typical plan of visits looks like. Sessions are often billed hourly, and many health plans cover medical nutrition therapy for diabetes and kidney disease; ask whether the dietitian bills insurance. For exercise programming alongside the nutrition plan, personal trainers are a common pairing.
Every dietitian here wrote their own listing, and a person reviewed it before publication. If you are a registered dietitian, apply to get listed — free, and quick to complete.
