Pet Services Directory

This section of the Vanguard Directory gathers the businesses that look after animals, from medical care to a Saturday bath. It covers veterinarians for exams, vaccines and surgery; pet groomers for coats, nails and ears; dog trainers for puppies and problem behavior; boarding kennels and sitters for when you travel; and pet stores for food and supplies.

Licensing varies a great deal across this group. Veterinarians are licensed in every state and can be checked with the state veterinary board, while groomers, trainers and sitters are unregulated in most states, so their credentials come from private certifying bodies and from their track record. Whoever you hire, ask how long they have worked with animals like yours, what happens in an emergency, and whether they carry liability insurance. Pricing is usually per visit, per night or per session, and reputable businesses quote it before you commit.

Every business in this section submitted its own listing, and a person reviewed it before it went live. If you work with pets for a living, apply to get listed — free, and it takes a few minutes.
