Mediators in the Vanguard Directory
Mediators are neutral third parties who help people in a dispute reach their own agreement without a trial: divorce and custody arrangements, business partner and contract disagreements, workplace conflicts, landlord-tenant problems, and neighbor disputes. Visitors to this page want to settle something without the cost and delay of court, or have been ordered by a judge to try mediation first.
Most states do not license mediators, though many keep a court roster that requires a set number of training hours and observed sessions, so ask about training, whether they are on a court list, and whether they are also a lawyer or therapist. Ask how sessions run, whether the parties sit together or apart, and how a signed agreement becomes enforceable. Fees are usually hourly or per session and split between the parties, so confirm the split and whether drafting the final agreement is included. For the legal advice a mediator cannot give, family lawyers review divorce agreements and business lawyers review commercial ones.
Mediators on this page wrote their own listings, and a person reviewed every one before it was published. If you offer mediation, apply to get listed — free, and takes a few minutes to finish.
