Dance teaching is unlicensed, so ask about the teachers’ training and performing background, whether they are background checked, and how classes are grouped by age and ability. Ask about class size, whether the floors are sprung and the mirrors and barres in place, whether parents can observe, and what the dress code requires you to buy. Ask what recital participation costs, including costumes, tickets and extra rehearsals, since these often add a lot on top of monthly tuition, and whether competition team membership is optional. Ask how you withdraw and whether tuition is charged over the summer. Studios often share families with music teachers and martial arts schools on the same after-school circuit.
